Being a Poet

What do poets really do?
Children sometimes ask,
“Is writing poetry lots of fun,
Or a really boring task?”

“How do you get the words
To rhyme the way they do?”
“What kind of mind matches words
Like gnu, canoe, and kazoo?”

I think we are all poets
In our own little way.
Poems are when an open mind
Lets its thoughts out to play.
